FAQS

LEARN HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR FLOAT EXPERIENCE

  • Do I need to bring anything?
A towel Contact lenses - please bring something to store them in while you’re floating Other than that, we provide everything you need: earplugs shampoo body wash For first time floaters, please see our float prep information Your float experience with us will be made as effortless as possible so you can relax and enjoy
  • What do I wear?
It’s birthday suit time! Something we recommend to truly get the full experience of sensory deprivation (i.e. no garment’s becoming heavy with Epsom salts and becoming a distraction). However, we completely understand this can be daunting (especially the first time), so you can wear swimwear if you like, your room and shower is completely enclosed and private, and that decision will be left completely up to you. But we do recommend no swim wear.
  • Is there anything I should do to prepare?
Have a look at our first time floaters and float prep information
  • What if I am claustrophobic?
Our Float Room is a room and not a pod. The ceiling is 2m high and remember you have complete control of your environment. We have installed beautiful star-light lighting and you can opt to leave the lights dimmed if this is your first float. Being in the Float Room is more like floating in outer space than being shut in a box. You’re always in control of your environment, and even people with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problems with their time in the room. We also have some great onsite therapists that work with alleviating anxieties and fears, so it might be worth trying to see them re confined spaces, and then come and get your float on.
  • Will I get cold?
Everyones' body is very different and will react differently to temperature. Our Float Room water and air temperature will roughly be set at the average skin temperature which is around 35.5 degrees, this is the most researched and recognised as the perfect temperature. Too warm (like a hot bath) encourages your body to sweat in order to cool you down, and too cool - your body shivers to warm you up, both causes stress to the body which isn’t relaxing. We have installed advanced underfloor heating in the room, so when you come out of the Float Room, you will still be in a cosy, warm environment…
  • Can more than one person float at a time?
Only one person can float in our room at any one time, and it is better this way as you get your own downtime. Please email us to ask about what we offer mum's and daughters, couples or freinds who want to visit together.
  • How do I know when to get out?
The lights and music will come on for 5 minutes, signalling the end of your float session. Please use this time to exit the float room, remembering to rinse your body before stepping out.
  • How many sessions do you need to feel the benefits?
You should feel the benefits after the first float, but with anything, it depends how relaxed you are to begin with. I liken it to a spin or yoga class, you need to try it at least three times to give your body and head space a chance to respond, and then decide if you like it. Please see our float experience section to find out more about what you can expect/may experience from your floats. Although, each and everyone we do, is different from start to finish...
  • Is there a weight limit?
Yes there is. It is 25 stones (appx 158Kg)
  • Are Float Rooms hygenic?
The water in our Float Room is saturated with magnesium sulfate nearly to the point of crystallization, just like the Dead Sea. And, just like the Dead Sea, this is not an environment in which bacteria can live. In addition, our Float Room come with a five-filter-system that automatically drains and filters the water after each session and it also does this FIVE times. Finally, floaters are asked to shower before they enter the Float Room, further minimising the amount of bacteria they introduce to the Float Room.
  • What is sensory deprivation?
Sensory deprivation or as many people call it now, sensory enhancement is the abesnce of external stimului such as; sound, sight, smell and touch. These senses are removed once the float session moves from the relaxing and familiarisation period, when the lights are on and music is playing. To lights and sound off. It is so profoundly deeply relaxing.
  • Is it private?
Floating is a very private and personal experience. You float inside your own private float room, with your own private shower for your exclusive use, and a there is a lock on the entrance door to your float suite. This is a place you will feel safe and secure, you can truly rest and relax, and a time which is yours alone.
